What Is the KOOS JR Score?

The KOOS JR (Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score for Joint Replacement) is a validated, patient-reported measure used worldwide to evaluate knee function after knee replacement. Patients answer seven questions about pain, stiffness, and daily activities, which are converted to a score from 0 to 100.

How to Read the Score

50 Preop Avg
75 Good
0 — Total Knee Failure100 — Perfect Function

Most patients start in the high 40s to low 50s before surgery. A score of 75+ at one year represents a well-functioning knee. Even a few points of improvement represents a meaningful difference in daily comfort and function — the ability to climb stairs without pain, walk farther with confidence, or return to activities you've been avoiding.
